“Who Are These People?” (3) -- Moses: “Face to Face With God”

Scriptures: Hebrews 11:24-27; Exodus 33:1-3, 15-16; Deuteronomy 34:10-12;

       Numbers 11:11-15; 2 Corinthians 3:16 -18

Memory Verse: 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:16-18)

A) Moses’ unique relationship with God (mentioned three times that Moses was “face to face with God”)

“So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” (Exodus 33:11)

“7 Not so with My servant Moses; he is faithful in all My house.  8 I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings...”  (Numbers 12:7-8)

§  ( 34:10)

(Deuteronomy 34:10)

B) Moses’ relationship with God enabled him to                                      .

“24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. 27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:24-27)

C) Moses’ relationship with God made him                                        .

“15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. 16 For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” (Exodus 33:15-16)

D) Moses’ relationship with God enabled him to                                                                              .

“10 But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 in all the signs and wonders which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land, 12 and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.” (Deuteronomy 34:10-12)

“11 So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You swore to their fathers?... 14 I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now—if I have found favor in Your sight—and do not let me see my wretchedness!” (Numbers 11:11-15)

as Moses also was faithful in all His house... Moses indeed was faithful in all His house...” (Hebrews 3:2, 5)
